Errors Set in Stone
The parents and the four children have Stivens inscribed as the surname. In the adjacent stone for another child, Hannah, who undoubtedly was of the same family, the surname is inscribed as Stevens. (The Hannah Stevens stone is shown on West Side Cluster – 1.)

For the child who died the same day she was born, it appears that the stone cutter inscribed both a 6 and a 7 as the last figure of the year of death. Perhaps the stone cutter initially inscribed a 6, discovered the error, and then inscribed a 7 over it.
